    "After taking power in 1949, China's Communist regime launched an anti opium campaign that culminated in 1952 with the identification of 369,000 traffickers and then 82,000 arrests, 35,000 prison sentences, and 880 public executions. Through the next stage of mass mobilisation and compulsory treatment, users quickly abandoned the habit, making China, once the world largest and producer and consumer of opium, drug free by the mid 1950s."

    All it took was a few years. Powerful stuff.

    Makes you wonder if we're doing it right?
