Hardly an accurate article given it was written "before" the Chinchilla trial under Len took place. The CV of the gas is just one issue..you need to look at the post well head clean up to produce a gas that won't eat your gas turbine away within 6 months.

The actual results, having seem them myself as a seed investor in the early days of Linc, were not close to what they predicted. The Hydrogen/Carbon ratios were very low and the gas was full of contamininents that would need removal prior to use in a gas turbine. Without a huge amount of post well head clean up the only use air produced UCG Syngas should have is in heating boilers for steam turbines. The cost associated with cleaning up an air based UCG Syngas to a suitable level for gas turbines is a far more expensive option then using of oxygen.

This is why Carbon will use Oxygen for its power generation and Linc will move to Oxygen for GTL. Air has to many issues that you won't get away with in Australia, but you can in places like Uzbekistan.

Whether people like or dis-like my comments on this thread, they are factual from a long association in the industry going back to the early days of Linc abd as such I can comment with some authority in here.
