The decision by Directors to freeze 2017 remuneration is commendable. However their decision to substantially raise their 2016 remuneration in July 2015 certainly stinks. You would think the least they could do, would be to retrospectively call the increase a loan, repayable over 3 years in sympatico with the farmers.
However the Directors are employees and as such do not share in the profits or losses of the business. Farmers run a business and shareholders and unit holders have an equity interest.
As owners, if the shareholders/farmers don't like something, the Articles allow for an EGM to be called to enact change. There was a call to arms 4 months ago and still nothing.
The only thing whinging does is make management more conservative and lead to stuff ups in the overall business plan like losing the Woolies contract. In short, DO SOMETHING or stop the whinging.
