Crash of 1987. Yep, I was trading then. I've told this story a few times but I sold my entire portfolio the day before the crash. Went in to my brokers the next day and wanted to buy stuff but broker would not let me. He said it was too risky. Took the cash and paid off my first house.
On other hand, held all my stocks for the Tech Wreck and took a big hit.
Was mostly exited for the GFC.
Never looked at a chart for the entire time. Brokers were useless and FA was pffft.
Gotta say, hardly any of that experience is of any use in today's market.
A feel for risk helps and bit of self control prob my only real advantage over yous guys.
