    Australia has become a nanny state imo...too politically correct and way too risk averse. I feel safer in BKK at night than I do around Australian cities. I have never had a problem in Bangkok but I have certainly felt unsafe walking the streets of Sydney and Perth. Bangkok comes alive at night due to the heat at daytime as you would know
