Was flicking through the GXY forum and Investor Gadget posted an interesting link with regard to shorting of the lithium sector.

    http://www.contracts-for-difference.com/Borrowing-lending-shares.htm

I am of the view it can be targeted activity, which in itself is a distortion of the market and should trigger the orderly market rule, but how do you prove it?  Was in Oz Minerals once when it was attacked.  A class action was successful.

Shorting works against the original holder's best interest because it allows brokers to borrow your shares and lend them.  The turnover increases broker's revenue from fees.  No skin off their nose and can satisfy the agendas of others in this brutal game.

The link highlighted a novel way to take the shorting out of the game.  The objective being to reduce the pool size of the shares being lent.  The method was to put a sell order in at twice the price and in doing so they were not allowed to be lent as they were already in the market.  The article further suggested to keep increasing the sell order price.

Perhaps food for thought for large holders or lots of small holders if DTM's  MC rises sufficiently to become a target.  Think the current lithium shorting is a short term phenomena given the absolute world demand going forward.  Great buying opportunity to get on the coat tails of shorting to slingshot higher.

DTM is travelling nicely and remains very good value.
