After more than 30 years of 'on & off' development, an IPO on the ASX and some recent managerial 'displacements', the time has clearly come to get the Martin Jetpack to the market. With MJP's workforce having increased to over 50 employees, their wages bill has also risen, steadily eating away from the A$27 Million that they have raised with their IPO in February of 2015 (almost 12 months ago). Add travel costs associated with the recent trips to Paris, Frankfurt & Dubai and we are talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions. What is now urgently needed in my opinion is an enthusiastic and energetic marketing team, updating their website on an almost daily basis, just like most other start-ups. This will keep interest fresh and stakeholders and potential clients interested and up to date. Naturally, it is equally important to keep working in the isolation of their small factory, but this alone will not do much to keep the share price steady, or preferably rising for that matter. Now publicly listed, please MJP do not forget that you have now taken on obligations regarding your shareholders. MJP investors are also MJP owners and management’s job includes producing gains for their shareholders. If the stock price consistently underperforms, shareholders will become unhappy and possibly even directly action major changes, as happened with one of the resolutions during the last AGM. Also, financial analysts constantly scrutinize companies and look unfavourably at companies whose shares are performing poorly. With the share price going the way it is today, there will come a time very soon when there is a need to re-finance. No doubt, MJP will have to do this by diluting the share price even more. A low share price can also make a company vulnerable to an opportunistic takeover. The bottom line, and as much as MJP’s management claim otherwise, the share price is a matter of concern. So please: 1) keep the market informed, 2) don’t ignore your shareholders and 3) release these amazing jetpacks to the world as soon as possible. Competitors with much less time to invent are on your heels and you don’t want to miss this great opportunity.
