I made the comment in reference to the slavery discussion - only to point out that there are no human rights in the UAE, and it is slavery that made the whole development of Dubai possible. Disapperance is a common story. It has been reported to all authorities. Nothing happens - the employer was an Arab, investigation non-existant.

The whole structural problem with the Emirates is that the monarchy is the government and the government is run like a corporation. The lines between family business, state companies and private corporations are blurred. The whole model is set up to make the Arabs as wealthy as possible. Due to lack of transparency, governance, and accountability we can now witness the whole model fall apart. And it is also for those reasons that there are no human rights.
