I never pay attention to the "full price" listing, of course its rubbish. What wotif does is enable you to compare all hotel prices, across different locations, gives give you information about the hotel/facilities/local attractions/distances/location etc. And then provides a simple booking/payment function backed up by locally based customer service.

I used them to book a hotel in China. I looked at different hotels in Shanghai, compared locations, prices, distance to airport etc, and then booked. Had no problems. I wasnt looking for a cheap overnight visit, but a nice hotel in the best location. The wotif price was the cheapest available on the internet (compared hotels.com and expedia), and I wasnt going to make an international call to China to find out what their direct prices were.

I dont think wotif is a version of discount bookings anymore, but becoming more a Australian/Asian version of expedia.
