latest prices are around the $4,300 mark which has an igv of over 10 million.
Rhenium (Re) is a rare metal, one of the ten most valuable metals on earth with today?s price reaching US $7,500 per kilogram. There are only about 11 million kilograms of rhenium in the world with almost half of that in the United States.
Rhenium is associated with porphyry copper-molybdenum deposits and the Copaquire Property is located in northern Chile on the west fissure, which is known to contain some of the largest copper-molybdenum porphyry mines in the world.
Making rhenium so desirable are its high boiling point, very high density and wide range of oxidation states, the widest of any element. These properties make it uniquely desirable for making catalysts used to make super-alloys, which account for the largest use of rhenium every year. It?s also used in electronics, electromagnets, semi-conductors, jet engine parts, and in the petroleum industry to make lead-free high-octane gasoline. Unique uses, combined with scarce supply make for the astronomical price of the metal, a boon for prospectors coming across the element on their properties.
