commercial semiconductors need sale volume at the consumer end. AXE talks of bringing quantum to everyday devices. TSMC for example will do the math on cost to make these chips vs sale price vs potential market. They would have their engineers go over this. Hence AXE demo of CMOS integration, as its the most common feature size and production. Much larger nodes, 90nm even. nowhere near the sub 10nm,approaching atomic scale transistor levels that AXE works with in the biochip transistors.
There's also the possibility of AXE designing different application specific chips for the more niche ( AI ) and classified uses. This way we have a pathway to these other hinted collaborations.
My thinking and preference is tending towards AI specific design, not a 12CQ in every smartphone. Let's see if the narrative changes as time progresses.
