A coherence time of 230 nanoseconds is not sufficient for room-temperature qubits. In order to be useful for quantum computing, qubits need to have coherence times of at least microseconds, and preferably milliseconds or even longer. There are a number of challenges that need to be overcome in order to achieve this, including finding materials with long coherence times at room temperature, and developing new methods of qubit control and readout.

However, there is a lot of research activity in this area, and there have been some recent advances. 230 nanoseconds = 0.23 microseconds. We are already well below a microsecond. 90 microseconds = 90000 nanoseconds.

Does that put us ahead or way behind?

I think I may be doing this calc wrong way around. It’s all a bit confusing for small brains like mine
