People dont usually get rich investing in the ASX 100 which only provide 3-7% return. (few exceptions)

There isnt much risk and the return is not worth the time and effort it takes to do the research.

There are a few companies which i really like that are in the top 100;

QAN had a P/E of 10 a year ago... Because of the low market cap and high earnings it was attractive to add to a portfolio... look where it is now.

TLS right now has EPS as 0.355 and SP of $3.67, (just under 10%... fully franked too) that i want to add to my portfolio... i dont care if growth is 0% p.a. as long as its not negative, you got yourself a good quality stock.

With the above view and with a little economics/industry research your good to go (IMO).
