yeah i think so too, to make it look weaker on the chart as to accumulate more at lower prices? e.g jack_a_heart's' shares :)

when we had the large spikes only to retrace intraday the large volume was on the up and only small volume would bring it back down. The opposite happened today though, there was large volume in the afternoon that sent it lower so maybe some frustrated sellers.

interesting that there was no announcement today regarding an extension
