Most ISPs The Australian spoke to said they had already raised their prices in the past six months and they didn't expect to increase their prices again in the near future.

Former Internode users appear most likely to move to EFTel's retail ISP brand, aaNet, and Adam Internet, TPG and ComCen.

Mr Ehrenfeld and Adam Internet chief executive Scott Hicks said their services had been flooded with pricing queries from Internode customers.

Both companies said their prices had already been adjusted their pricing to accommodate changes in international backhaul pricing.

Simon Ehrenfeld, chief executive of South Australian ISP EFTel, conceded that some ISPs may need to increase their prices.

"If you run an all-you-can-eat restaurant and everyone that comes in is 200kg and eats you out of house and home, you can't offer the same pricing."
