Given current market conditions, I don't think a counter bid will be forthcoming. It seems that the SDL board just wants out and will back any offer, although I do think 57c is unusually generous coming from the Chinese.
As for Hanlong, SDL is way beyond what they can afford to chew. They'll either flog it to the next interested party or worse, sit on it like a hog. If China Inc is really behind Hanlong (which I doubt), they need to show their hand. There is good reason Cameroon wants a partner with proven pedigree.
