Very unfair on you and those around you for the way you were treated, as you've indicated communication is the key. From my perspective looking through your summary, joining that up with my own experience trying to contact the company or being able to stay abreast of what was happening and on the horizon as well as commentary from others who may have experienced silence for whatever reason - the importance of communication cannot be understated, it stands out as one opportunity for you in whatever you choose to do next.
