This could be a reaction to the government sponsored political correctness, the 'freedom from being offended' laws that contain and suppress free speech in liberal europe.
Governments have no way of gauging the mood of the electorate whilst gaol terms are being given to those that cause offence by expressing their opinion of minority groups.
There may well be a serious backlash, no doubt 'liberals' will be carefully arguing the case against 'nazi' free speech advocates.
An election may tip the scales drastically.
