''You can’t wear a Sonny Bill WIlliams mask to a cricket ground but women practising Islam must wear a veil? What kind of AUstralia is that?''
that kind of thing humans do --------- and even thinking humans do
every day - it's called hypocrisy sometimes, other times we engage in cognitive dissonance, and of course - double standards
it's humans - we are not a very smart creature - indeed, we are pretty bloody idiotic
we have one rule for something because we believe something - and another rule for the same or similar thing - because we believe something else
or we change beliefs from one day to the next -- so we change the rules
a peculiarity of a particularly stupid species
there are examples everywhere of double standards in everyday life - everywhere
Most of them are so 'normal' that we just don't even notice them. We never think about them because - we don't see them - we just don't see 'normal'
it is the greatest value one gets out of travel to foreign lands and different worlds -
because one gets to see one's own world - because the wise explorer sees how some do things differently to how we do the things ourselves --
the simple minds don't ask anything; the average minds ask - 'why do they do it that way'? - the wise minds ask 'why do we do it the way we do it?'
