imo its a temporary measure but we all know that temporary can quickly become a permanent problem if left in place too long.
its a short term fix and from what I've seen/read of the bill it has enough protection for the most vulnerable, puts a limit on the cost to Aus generation which has been used as a short term profit mechanism (I can't really blame the coal producers from capitalising on this) and restricts retailers from taking a similar advantage of making greater profits from increased Gov subsidisation.
I disagree that it's a brain fart as they've been consulting and negotiating with coal and electricity producers for over a month. even resisting the desires of journos for a headline announcement that would ordinarily come from a brain fart..... such was the practice of successive Lib Govs, but seeming not so for the current mob.
