I guess Dutton is doing what oppositions are supposed to do ------------- oppose. So, I can't blame him for that part of the deal.
On the actual subject - I'd be awfully nervous. It is a real and present threat - and, personally, I've no faith in the systems of checking that we have for international arrivals or interstate travel.
I've been observing things for years - including seeing regular smuggling of illegal products into Oz via airports (dirt easy) and also seen absolutely ridiculous procedures in interstate supposed biosecurity systems
personally - I wouldn't trust them a millimetre - nor would I trust people to a. do the right thing or b. have a clue what they are doing.
If this is a huge deal in - Bali in particular -------- I'd probably fall over the line for a travel ban on people - possibly not trade - but, people - yes.
I'd like to tell the chief vet a few yarns. That'd make their hair stand up.
