    it's a fluid thing. There's a lot of talk here about it right now. This is what I'm hearing - although I haven't checked it. Voting is not compulsory here in Fr.

    Voting 20 years ago had much larger turnouts.
    When bigger turnout numbers happen - the far right have more resistance

    There's a system here where you can nominate a proxy in your voting area -

    so, if you are going to be away on holidays or similar for voting day - you can get your mum or neighbour or someone who is register to vote in your area - to put your vote in for you

    Right now the record number of registrations for that to happen (you have to register your intention) ---------- is up about 400% higher than the previous record.

    The numbers surveyed that say they intend to vote has also reached the similar numbers to 20 years ago

    What that all means, no one knows - because the move to far right hasn't been like this before.

    The last time the far right got into power - they drove in in tanks and then the Vichy government formed a few months later.


    so - we shall see.
