I remember voting for John Howard in 1998 because he promised to introduce the GST! Our tax system was F#$ked prior to that and all the crap about the GST hurting small business! After it was introduced, most of the Tradies I knew, never had is so good! John Howard said on the Tampa affair "we will decide who comes to Australia, how they come to Australia and when they come to Australia". John Howard had guts alright, even to the point of introducing work choices in 2007 which cost him his seat of Benelong with more that a 25% swing against him. it was one of the rare times i didn't vote LNP because i thought Work Choices was a abomination.
