not actually true of many very very wealthy - many of them are generous with education funding, science etc
examples would be Gates and Ruth Gottesman, a 93-year-old widow, made a historic donation of $1 billion to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. This donation is set to cover the tuition for all current and future students at the medical school in perpetuity, making it the largest donation ever made to a medical school in the United States
