Then there are the periodic border skirmishes with the Indian armed forces.
All other parties ask is that China complies with the international laws of the sea and stops playing silly buggers in the Himalayas.
If Xi can behave on these fronts China will earn respect without coercion. With international respect earned, all roads will indeed lead to China.
