Duddo has more than a few problems with Duddos Astounding Great Big Idea
DAGBI
this is merely a minor detail -------- IF he ever managed to get the delusion to reality -
Astoundingly - France has experienced exactly these problems and they are SEVERE problems
and yet - here we are - with the DAGBI planning power stations EXACTLY in risk areas - - the incredible Duddo
There have been instances where Australian coal-fired power stations faced cooling water supply problems due to drought or high water temperatures.
In 2008, during a severe drought in Queensland, around 800 MW of coal-fired power capacity could not be utilized due to water shortages.[1] The Tarong and Tarong North power stations were affected by low water levels in their cooling water sources.
In 2007, the Eraring and Vales Point power stations in New South Wales had to reduce output due to high temperatures in the cooling water drawn from Lake Macquarie.[2] High water temperatures reduce the efficiency of the cooling process.
The Hazelwood Power Station in Victoria, which used a once-through cooling system drawing water from the Hazelwood Cooling Pond, was particularly vulnerable to drought conditions and had to be decommissioned in 2017 partly due to water supply issues.[2]
Several other coal power plants like Gladstone, Eraring, and Vales Point use seawater or saline water for cooling to mitigate freshwater supply risks, but this can have environmental impacts on marine ecosystems.[1][2]
So in summary, prolonged droughts, low water levels in reservoirs/rivers, and high water temperatures have disrupted operations at multiple Australian coal power stations that rely on adequate cooling water supplies.[1][2]
