The point you make Gindaldan about higher farm gate prices resulting in higher prices for consumers seems to have escaped those (including both farming and consumer lobby groups) pushing for the supermarket inquiry. Dolts.
As for the nationals, the party has always been on the side of reactive agrarian socialism so it's little wonder it supports government intervention by way of forced divestment: an action not supported by Inquiry Chair nor the Government.
