Thats a very good point grenade about new housing estates and the possible absence of a local butcher. And your point about the quality of meat at supermarkets is worth taking note of: the budget cuts of beef offered by Aldi and Woolies are probably from cattle that have been treated with HGP (Hormone Growth Promotants) part of the reasoning for my earlier suggestion about purchasing more expensive cuts for a better eating experience. Coles promotes its beef as "no added hormone".
Interestingly our local town has a Woolies, Coles and Aldi yet also supports 4 butcher shops plus plenty of home kill as this is a rural area. I think the supermarkets set a base price allowing the private butchers to operate at reasonable profit margins. Btw these butchers have huge turnover. Despite this my go to steak is the Grass Fed line at Coles....
