imagine if this idiots actually forced a divestment? What? The purchaser will suddenly have an amazing logistics business owned by WOW and COL and deliver cheap automated food? God no, they’ll have more staff per $ of good performing manual labour at insane Australian wages, thus the cost of food from these retailers will be even more expensive.
Ever been to a food shopping retailer outside WOW, COL and Aldi? It’s more expensive due to the lack of logistics and scale.
Im a liberal voter, always have been, but this proposal is absolutely against liberal values of free business, I’d expect this of the greens or labor. I’d say it’s the nationals pushing the liberals balls on this via farmers wanting more $. But news flash, farmers demanding more $ means higher prices for the consumer… WOW and COL only make a meagre 3-4% margins. They’ll need to maintain that.
