while the manifestation is roughly the same the causes may be very different. I still don’t know how someone who strangled their partner and then says they were careful ( whatever that means) can then somehow tell themselves they have not done anything. Or found some other justification.

I know there are also some very common patterns or behaviours across abusers. Content may be different but there is sufficient that is similar to be able to identify these patterns.

Mens behaviour change programs are designed to help men understand those patterns

Yes thats what I meant by putting one's hand up ans getting help. For a lot of men with violence issues they would resist any programmes which might address who they are and have always been. It's just another sign of weakness, a fear of taking responsibility and accepting that they are the problem
