Dave. The other Black Comedy that I thought was brilliant was Catch 22 by Joseph Heller with an outstanding performance (not quite in the same league as Peter Sellers) by Alan Arkin. My companion at that time coudn't comprehend why I was in a constant state of mirth. However I had the advantage of reading book before I saw the film as it was not an easy book to transfer to celluloid.
The expression Catch 22 has, of course, become part of everyday language.
