The copper concentrate supplies are already running low and whatever stockpiles were available are also being run down. Smelters will have no choice but to shut down or wrestle for expensive feedstock and run at a loss hoping competition will blink first. This will not reduce demand for concentrate and instead incentivise more upstream activity. Copper miners have been warning against this this very thing for months now. Copper price will keep heading north.
