    Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to be borrowing stock and selling with no expectation the price has to go down in order to repurchase the borrowed stock to return it to the beneficial owners at a profit.

    It makes no sense that an insto or trading desk would not place strategic small parcel sells to push price down in low liquidity times over a period of time in order to buy back the stock at a future date at lower prices.

    The uptick you see highlighted in shorts is aligned with the most recent sell off in price you alluded to another poster. This data is 4 days lag, so let's revisit next week and see if the shorts have been unwinding as they run for the exit without causing a stampede with one another.
