The position for Wine Buyer / Procurement Specialist has me thinking that DW8 may launch a retail e-commerce website. With the thousands of sku's stored in the depots may as well list them all on your own DTC website too. This may also be a strategic move to commence a relationship with the big players because they will always want to talk when you are buying products from them. They will most likely drop ship the products using the big players logistics networks rather than purchase & hold stock.

Boozebud have recently advertised for an Alcohol Buyer & they mention that their platform allows producers to sell their products & connect directly with customers. They have CUB, Pernod & Diageo on board as well as craft beers, spirits & wines. The job ad seeks A Grade performers & is full on similar to a DW8 job ad. The culture is similar to DW8.

Looking further into Boozebud they originally started as Beerbud & changed there name after a couple of years to represent all liquor. They mention it was not difficult to on board suppliers because as a retailer you are buying product from them & driving sales. This gave me the idea that the DW8 move may be strategic to make the big players feel warm & fuzzy. DW8 may also have to change name in future to represent all liquor.

ZX Ventures a part of AB Inbev acquired Boozebud in late 2018. ZX Ventures describes itself as a global disruptive growth & innovation group within Ab Inbev so that may be lurking one day in the future to acquire DW8 as well.

After a couple of years in late 2020 AB Inbev sold Boozebud back to the owners. The management buyout was bankrolled by Catcha Group & they are planning an IPO as early as this year.
