I have never heard of this ever happening unless you require a set amount of shares in companies prior to making such a large transaction.

I know commsec wouldn’t allow me big transactions back in the early days until I had some shares under my belt.

to say it’s to risky though is ridiculous, if your mate has fronted the money then the broker should just buy the shares. Has nothing else to do with them.

plenty of other things may come into play but if it is this simple then it sounds stupid.
