Scroats,
Some people consider that gas will be the transitional fuel across to a non carbon world. CVN has plenty of this and Asia is a huge market, even at present. The problem in Australia with renewables is a lack of power at night and a grid that needs upgrading to what is called the Faraday grid. This grid allows power to be decentralised, when compared to the current grid centralised on the big coal generators. Who will pay for this change in the current electricity grid is a big question. Renewables sound good, but govts and consumers have forgotten the costs involved to achieve power sharing across the large electricity grid. Most solar customers don’t want to pay extra for the grid, as they see their panel investment return as the only thing they have to pay for. Bob Brown and co have conveniently forgotten the costs involved. Not everyone has the money to move to the carbon free environment. Do you wish to pay the real cost, is the question.
