BEIJING (Info-RE) 23-Sept-16 China exported 35,442 kg dysprosium oxide in the first half of 2016, soaring 440.9% compared to the corresponding period last year, according to customs statistics.
The export value in the first six months was $10,571,966, jumping 312.4% year on year.
The sharp increase in the export amount of dysprosium oxide shows that overseas demand for the rare earth oxide has significantly improved even though many consumers have been trying their best to decrease dysprosium consumption and even some buyers figure out new technologies to replace dysprosium.
".... manufactures would like to manufacture Dy free NdFeB magnets. But as it stands today, as far as we know, Dy is still 3-6% of NdFeB by weight. Large scale Dy free NdFeb magnet production could be many years away. As for today, higher DyO exports means higher demand for NdFeB magnets"
