Dyson not finding this viable doesn't mean anything. Dyson sucks badly as a business and James Dyson makes P T Barnum look like a credible entrepreneur. Like Apple, they produce obscenely over-priced products that are rarely the best in the field and live off past reputation.
My daughter recently moved from a $1300 iPhone to a $350 Xiaomi Android with better specs. (And loves it.) You can get a Shark Navigator vac that is streets better than a Dyson vac for a fraction of the price, and has X-rated suction capability.
Elon Musk will not determine the future of EV market. China will. As with the past, it won't be the showponies, it will be the company that can get good new tech out, with good reliability at a good price that will win the race. Soon there will be a tipping point where the EV makes economic sense and the punters will flock to it. In the end the market will decide.
