"BEIJING (Info-RE) 23-Dec-16 Dysprosium oxide prices have softened again in the past few days in line with the continuously flat demand as well as weakening prices for some other rare earth elements.
Market sources said that 99% dysprosium oxide is currently available about RMB1,210/kg($174/kg), and both higher prices of about RMB1,220/kg($176/kg) and lower RMB1,200/kg($173/kg) are being reported in the market.
However, prices were holding about RMB1,230/kg($177/kg) one week ago.
The lack of good consumer buying, the relatively ample stocks, and the weakness in prices for some other rare earth elements in the past days, such as praseodymium/neodymium and terbium, have put pressure on dysprosium oxide prices recently.
Suppliers who are keen to sell from stocks would somewhat decrease prices to stimulate business. However, most suppliers appear to be in no hurry to sell from stocks for the moment. Consequently prices are expected to maintain relatively steady in the near future.
Meanwhile, China exported 8,362 kg dysprosium oxide in October 2016, down 10.3% from October 2015, according to customs statistics. And the export value was $1,676,546, down 26.1% from the same month of 2015."
