Northern Minerals NTU put out ASX release on the 10th Aug.

Dysprosium price jumps on crackdown on Chinese illegal mining

Asian Metal has reported the Dysprosium Oxide (99% min) price has increased from RMB 1,250/kg to RMB 1,500/kg in the past fortnight, an increase of 20%

The company understands that part of the price shift may be attributable to a crackdown by the Chinese Government on illegal mining. The programme of clamping down on illegal mining has been ongoing since 2010, however news reports out of China indicate that this recent crackdown is impacting supply.

My comment: In ALK last quarterly report they showed 6 different rare earth graphs which DID NOT include Dysprosium. Which had all gone up from the start of 2017, from a low of a 12% increase to a high of 38% increase. Dysprosium only went up after this qrt report was already released!

So the question is, if the illegal rare earth mines are getting shut down. Will this provide a big up tick in the share prices due to the increased rare earth prices in the last month?

And will china have any rare earths to ship internationally, or will the legal mines only have enough production for Chinas huge demand?
