    In brief:
"The first message from the figures is that wind power will crowd out other sources of power supply. The explanation is that, even in the absence of renewable
priority access legal regimes, supply typically is determined by marginal production costs. Because wind is for free, marginal costs of wind power almost by definition will be less than power produced with the input of nonfree resources. A second message of the figures is that an about tenfold wind capacity may cause situations in which wind power not only crowds out all gas
fi red power production, but also the typical base load power supply from coal and even nuclear. In fact, similar simulations based on the daily supply–demand
patterns suggest a serious number of days in which all non-wind power supply is crowded out by wind power up to the point of negative power prices.
A third message is that due to intermittency of wind its contribution to power supply ranges from about 15 to close to 100 per cent. This means that given the installed capacity, a backup capacity is required in the order of 75–80 per cent of installed wind capacity. A final message is that the flexibility of the 6 Gas research in the Netherlands and Horizon 2020
non-wind supply system needs to be enhanced tremendously. The gas-fired power production seems the most obvious candidate to play a decisive role in providing the supply flexibility required to balance the system."

It seems Bluegen @ 85-90% efficiency (current leader is the solution to demand balancing which is why the economic argument of simple cost makes no sense. The EU27 has to reduce its emissions from 4 Giga tonnes to 1.6 Giga tonnes by 2050 for 2 Degrees C warming.
In the next few years volume pricing should make Bluegen affordable for all as per the last Quarterly.
