Probably not a spoof order, end of day tidy up. Brokers put in buys and sells that get crossed at the level required to fill all the overlapping bids and offers. There is an algorithm that calculates a single price point whereby there is no longer any overlapping orders, and thats where the close becomes.Closing price is established by the end of day auction at 10 past.
Depending on the broker you use you can normally submit trades, above or below market depending what you are doing, up until just before 10 past and they will be filled at the closing price.
