You have expressed my lingering concerns (hence why I didn't ultimately jump in this morning) really well. Backed up with actual numbers! I used to be a live connected customer, then vaya and know how slim the margins must be.
I used to pay $10.99 per month for $900 (worth of value - calls + sms) and 1.5GB of data. I was on this plan for almost 3 years, when they finally moved me off the plan it was incredible to think that I had paid less than $400 for more calls and text than I could use with enough data for my needs. Thats $400 for the entire three years, some people pay that in a bad month!
But I expect the market is doing more of a value comparison as you mention hence the short term gain. I think there is also some expectation, probably legitimate that there will be less serious market competitors in the optus mnvo space as Vaya was quite a force from what I could tell.
