I just looked up some of those applications Prof Karl has listed on his slide at EACTS today.
These are very complex procedures indeed. As you research more and more regarding cardiocel it becomes clearer just how versatlie the material is. I went back to the Presentation Announcement of 25 March this year wherein many of the uses beyond just CHD are mentioned with timelines for future implementation. What Im seeing today in both the CSIRO paper regarding seeding stem cells into the adapt tissue and now in Prof Karl's presentation is many of these usages starting to already unfold.
Vascular repair ( aneurysm) and Caratoid Artery repair are some of the uses mentioned.
Thought Id show this picture of bovine patch used to repair a major artery ..maybe cardiocel..not sure and its probably a sheep...BUT it helps one grasp how clever the surgeons are in using the material to patch a major artery.
