Thoughts on the deal announced recently to partner with Vocus NZ for Sky Broadband?

When they first announced they were entering broadband, they said it was with Feenix Communications.

Now it is Vocus, and a Sky rep said Sky Broadband will be available in the first half on 2021 (before that I thought it was def going to be released in the first quarter based on previous commentary from Sky).

Also interesting to me that they did not do a wholesale deal with Vodafone instead, given their history and relationship with the business.

In my view, Sky should be actively looking for some kind of merger or takeover opportunity with Vocus. We know that the Aussie parent has been trying to flick Vocus NZ for the last three years.
A wholesale deal is fine as a first step to enter the market, but to be truly successful long term it is my opinion that they should own the broadband (and mobile) assets and build the core competency to complement their large entertainment catalogue.
