In a double dissolution all senate seats are up for re-election. In a normal election only half of the senators are up for re-election.
Therefore a new party like PUP can double the number of senators it gets elected with about the SAME amount of votes it got at the last election. The quota per seat is lower as there are more seats up for election.
That means that this current parliament will be so chaotic that it will make the last parliament look good.
