I think you will find that the product produced from lepidolite is very similar (but much more expensive to achieve) than the material from spodumene
worth googling … how is high grade lithium extracted from lepidolite ores
There is no question the costs of extraction are higher, but all costs in China are cheaper than they are in Western world.
i agree lithium price must go up from here, but maintain that there is going to be a ceiling above $2000 - $3,000 next time around
