I suspect that (1) and (2) should well be possible given reasonable situations distances and settings, such as a typical living room with a TV. (3) is probably not easy without, as you say, wearables. But you never know. It is conceivable that anti-noise to an ambient sound field can be broadcast alongside signal so that ambient noise can be blocked for the listeners position in space.

It is not as if AP does not have these things in mind - nor the IP to support it.
