I believe there's a check that the ASIC on each speaker will do each time it's powered on to identify any non-working pixels and adjust the control mechanism accordingly. I don't think the ASIC has memory to store that info between speaker on/off states. They haven't talked about whether environmental effects or very lengthy sound production durations impact the sound output.
