It's exactly how Freds fund raising game worked. Nearly all of those shares were sold at a profit. The holders had no intention of holding onto those shares.
You reimbursed the original holders for the capital that they injected + a profit that went into their pockets for their trouble.
Shares are in your name. They're out.
